HOW MOTHERHOOD CHANGED/SAVED ME

Becoming a mother as been one of, if not the biggest blessing in my life. Being a mom is by far the most challenging but most rewarding job I have ever done.

Hi guys, hope you all are doing well. I decided to write about this topic mainly because last Friday was Rhea's 6th birthday, and the time seem to have gone by so quickly. She has grown so much both mentally and physically, but so have I. Before I had Rhea I was a totally different person. I was just a girl who loved partying, shopping, eating fast food and "friends". But now I can honestly say I'm a lady, a mother, a teacher, a nurse when necessary, a home maker, a guidance counsellor and a role model. and this is all because of my beautiful, smart and outstanding daughter Rhea.

When I got pregnant people questioned if I was ready to have a child. To be honest, I questioned myself as well, but I knew it was the right time. just a feeling, you know. I'm sure every first time mom question themselves to some extent. Most of the time during my pregnancy I thought about the type of mother I wanted to be and the type of family I wanted to have, and with that I knew I couldn't be the same person I was then. As I said before sometimes I question myself and overthink things, but the overwhelming truth is she adds so much value to my life. I was never a perfect mom back then and I'm not now, but I sure do try my best.

" The moment a child is born, a mother is born also"

Now we share our favourite music(as young as she is, she absolutely loves music), films (supergirl), and the list goes on. I teach her values and morals, wrong from right, you know what I mean. I can share my passion, my love with this little human, and no one understands me better. She is my little best friend , my little miracle. the other day I was moaning about my hair, and she was like, "mommy you don't need long hair to be beautiful, you are beautiful as you are". I got a little teary and gave her a cuddle. I said to myself "thank you Jesus", cause I knew I am doing something right.
I lost friends along the way when I became a mom, but I gained a loyal, honest and lifelong friendship in my daughter. I've learnt to live and love, let go and let God.

How have I changed:
  • I am more prayerful- cause trust me, this world is not easy, and they go out everyday, so we need to ask the main man above to guide and protect them.
  • I am more patient
  • I am more forgiving
  • I can cook- haha, like proper cook lol. cause girl before I didn't even try, so I had no idea what I was capable of. Now I make whatever my family wants and more.
  • I am more mindful- in other words I am more worried. I think too often, worry too much. but then what mom doesn't though? and we aren't even at the teenage years yet...
  • I am joyful- ps. Rhea tells me she loves me like twice every hour lol, and always giving cuddles.. I will accept them all now, cause soon she will be tell me to leave her alone. lol
  • I am more appreciative- I appreciate my mom even more than before. I understand her love, and appreciate the sacrifices she made to ensure that I was always happy and never lacking anything as a child. overall, I have learnt to appreciate life on a whole.
In the end, though my daughter's needs guide much of my schedule and this sometimes can be a bit much. I would do it all over again if I had to.. This doesn't mean I want another child now lol.
All the deeply-rooted values and passions pre-motherhood remain, (still love dancing) just more bold than ever (not the dancing bit haha).. So on a serious note, I try my best to instill these values in Rhea's daily routine i.e.. to appreciate the little things, to love herself, to pray, to be polite, to be respectful, you know the little things that makes a little girl into a lovely young lady. In return, she adds more value and meaning to my life and everyday I learn so much from her.
Everything as changed, and yet I am more me than I've ever been.

I wanted to cut this post as short as possible, but I hope you enjoyed. If you are a mom to be, just know that having a child is a blessing in more ways than one, and if you don't want kids that's just fine, sharing love with nieces/nephews is just as good.

It takes someone brave to be a mother, someone strong to raise a child and someone special to love someone more than herself.

"The most precious jewel you'll ever have around your neck are the arms of your child or children."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RHEA!!!

Thanks for stopping by. Good night and good morning..
Sending loads of love your way.
